This theory of aging involves little things called transposons.
What on earth is a transposon?
According to Wikipedia, a transposon or transposable element (TE or transposon) is a DNA sequence that can change its position within a genome.
How is it involved in aging?
The so called ‘jumping gene’ can cause havoc by inserting itself elsewhere in the genome, potentially causing life-span reducing chaos.
What are possible interventions?
Restricting calories and gene manipulation have both shown to dramatically increase life span in lab animals. Calorie restriction mimetics such as resveratrol are a potent anti aging tool for this reason.
